Perth Mint’s 125th Anniversary Coins
The Perth Mint, renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship and rich history in producing high-quality precious metal coins, is celebrating a monumental milestone – its 125th anniversary. This prestigious event is marked by the release of a captivating range of gold, silver, and platinum coins. Each of the Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary coins is of course meticulously designed to honor the Mint’s legacy and excellence in the world of numismatics.
The new collection pays homage to the Mint’s journey of innovation, reliability, and artistic brilliance over the past century and a quarter. It not only showcases the Mint’s technical prowess but also highlights Australia’s rich heritage and natural beauty through intricate designs and impeccable minting standards.
Among the standout pieces in this commemorative series are the gold coins, symbolizing wealth, prosperity, and enduring value. Struck from 99.99% pure gold, these 1 oz coins have an official face value of 100 AUD. The coins are available as both brilliant uncirculated (maximum mintage: 25,000) and proof coins (maximum mintage: 500) are a testament to the Perth Mint’s commitment to excellence. The obverse features Dan Thorne’s portrait of HM King Charles III along with the inscription CHARLES III AUSTRALIA. The reverse side depicts a kangaroo, kookaburra, and koala in reference to the Perth Mint’s best known coin series such as the Australian Gold Kangaroos.
In addition to the gold coins, the Perth Mint’s 125th-anniversary collection also includes 99.9% pure 1 oz silver coins. These coins, that have a face value of 1 AUD, are also available as both brilliant uncirculated (maximum mintage of 150,000 pieces) and proof coins (maximum mintage of 7,500). They are a bit larger in diameter (40.9 mm) than the gold coins (32.6 mm) which gives more space for the design, which is identical to that of the gold coins.
Completing the celebratory collection are the platinum coins, a symbol of rarity and prestige. Crafted from 99.95% pure platinum, these 1 oz coins are identical in size and face value to the gold coins. However, they are only available with a brilliant uncirculated finish and their mintage limit is set quite low to only 5,000 pieces.
The Perth Mint’s 125th-anniversary collection of gold, silver, and platinum coins is a tribute to its enduring legacy of excellence, innovation, and artistry. From the intricate designs that capture Australia’s natural beauty to the impeccable quality of the precious metals used, these coins exemplify the Mint’s commitment to producing coins of exceptional value and beauty. Whether as investments or cherished collectibles, these coins hold a special place in the world of numismatics, marking a milestone in the Perth Mint’s illustrious history.
