Minting Facilities

Sunshine Minting Inc. (SMI) manufactures its products in Coeur d’Alene (Idaho), Las Vegas (Nevada) and Shanghai (China). Its corporate headquarter remains in Coeur d’Alene (Idaho). SMI maintains additional sales offices in Canada, Austria and Argentina.

History

The Sunshine Mint was founded in 1979 in Coeur d’Alene (Idaho). SMI has since then achieved a leading position in the industry and has contributed to the setting of new global standards. SMI's emphasis on quality and innovation ensures its continuing advancement in the minting industry. The Sunshine Mint produces both gold and silver bullion products (bars and rounds) that are acclaimed all over the world. Due to the fact that the mint is located in a silver mining region in the United States, SMI's product line is a bit more extensive for silver bullion products.

What makes it special?

The Sunshine Mint offers unique custom minting capabilities for corporations and individuals. Private label bullion designed and produced by SMI can include such unique features such as colorisation, gold and silver plating, the "select plating" of certain features, edge lettering and serial numbering. Besides these collectible-value enhancing methods, custom minting clients can provide their own precious metal (for example silver or gold salvaged from shipwrecks) for all the minting or just the plating of the bullion products. SMI will then certify that the provided precious metal is included in the finished custom minted product.

Bullion products of the Sunshine Mint are available in a large variety of sizes. Available sizes of bullion are/were: 1 gram, 2 gram, 2.5 gram, 5 gram, 10 gram, 1/2 ounce, 20 gram, 1 ounce, 50 gram, 100 gram, 5 ounce, 10 ounce, 1 kilogram, 50 ounce and 100 ounce bars.

Besides verifiable serial numbers and Tamper Evident Packaging (TEP), Sunshine Minting Inc. has developed unique security and authenticity features for their bullion products. The most innovative of those are the Mint Mark SI™ (registered trademark of the Graphic Security Systems Corp.) and COINWISE™ (registered trademark of American Eagle Associate, Inc.) security features. The Mint Mark SI™ feature contains micro-engraving that only becomes visible with a special decoding lens. COINWISE™ is an interactive technology for mobile devices running on Android or iOS. It is directly embedded in the colorised artwork and invisible to the human eye.
